English for Teaching Younger Learners ETYL/TECSOL

Accredited by NEAS, this TECSOL course prepares participants to teach English to children 4 to 12 years of age. It is available to students with an Intermediate English level. It will develop the language skills of the student and introduce teaching methodology and activities for teaching younger learners. Micro teaching and observation are also key aspects of this course. Participants can also gain real teaching experience through optional work experience programmes in accredited pre-schools.

Requirements: 

  • Intermediate level of English,
  • At least 18 years of age.

English language requirements for Intermediate Level English speakers:

  • Successful completion of International House Sydney Intermediate level of General English

For students with an official English level test score, please provide proof of:

  • General IELTS 4.5 or Academic IELTS 4.0 in all skills
  • TOEIC 500 – 600
  • TOEFL PBT 400, TOEFL CBT 97, TOEFL IBT 32
  • Cambridge PET
  • JETP/EIKEN 2

Students with official English level test scores may also have to complete a short telephone or in-school speaking test, approximately 10 minutes.
