Certificate IV in Dental Assisting

This course provides the knowledge and skills to provide an advanced level of chairside support to the operator. It includes contributing to the quality of dental care through communication skills, providing an oral health education program and implementing infection control procedures.

 

This qualification allows the dental assistant to select electives to address specific workplace needs in line with jurisdictional Dental Acts and Regulations.

 

NSW Health Medical requirements for International students to study in a Public Health Hospital are as the following:

  • NSW Federal/National Criminal Record Check - online application
  • Statuary Declaration stating they have had no criminal offences in overseas
  • NSW Health Code of Conduct - signed declaration
  • Working with Children Check - signed declaration
  • NSW Health Forms 2 and 3 - completed and signed

 

Immunisation evidence of below:

  • Hepatitis B - Full vaccination and Serology
  • Adult vaccination of ADTP (Diphtheria, Tetanus and Pertusis)
  • Varicella (Chicken Pox)
  • MMR- Measles Mumps and Rubella
  • TB Screening if the student is from a high risk country

 

International students will be given the above documentation pack on their orientation day with sufficient time for them to submit their results before clinical orientation.

 

If immunisations were completed overseas students will need to provide adequate evidence that these immunisations were completed to Australian standards e.g. Vaccination type/batch numbers/dates given, and doctors signature to confirm.
